Lesson of a Lifetime

The story of the Anzac 2002 Commemorative Tour

as told by the students themselves

"Lesson of a Lifetime" (cover below) is the first hand account of how the Mackay North students undertook their WW1 pilgrimage in search of the graves of 78 soldiers killed in the war.  It also tells of their involvement in the Anzac Day services at Gallipoli & in France.

The book uses quotes from the students’ detailed travel journals to provide a rich & interesting narrative written with genuine insight & feeling.

"I sat by myself for quite some time, listening to and watching the steady breaking of the waves as they met the shore. . . It was hard to imagine that the beautiful blue water in front of me was once stained with the blood of hundreds of Australian soldiers . . . I doubt I will ever be able to describe fully the sensation I had at that sacred site."
